4 Ways to Make Sustainable Office Choices

Go Paperless

One change you can make in your office is to go paperless! So many things are digitalized today, is it really necessary to keep the paper copy? In addition, you can securely share and store files digitally. Switch to paperless meetings, stop printing out presentations for every attendee, use eco-friendly paper, and start printing double-sided (when you must print). 

Minimize Power

Devices that require power are huge consumers of energy. Even when they aren’t in use. Be sure your office puts their computers to sleep, or completely turned off, when the day is done. Other ways to reduce power usage include unplugging chargers and unused devices, lowering screen brightness, and reducing the number of windows, tabs, or applications you have open. 

Another way to minimize the amount of energy consumed in your office is to replace old light bulbs with compact-fluorescent (CFL) or LED ones. This not only lowers your energy and power usage, but it will save your office money due to the lower amount of energy consumed. 

Use Real Dishes

When you use real dishes, mugs, or utensils, you are lowering waste by eliminating plastic utensils, paper plates, and disposable mugs. We all know you and your fellow workers enjoy a good cup or coffee or tea everyday. By requiring everyone to either bring their own mug or use a reusable one at the office, you are making a difference in the environment. Just wash the dishes in a dishwasher overnight, and you’re good to go for the next day!

Many appliances have labels to ensure consumers know how much energy they use. The lower the amount of energy used the more eco-friendly and safe. Instead of waiting for your old appliances to give out, get ahead of it and replace them with energy-efficient ones.
