Switch Out Appliances 

How old are the appliances in your office? And how much energy do they use? Most appliances have a label that tells you how much energy it uses. The lower amount of energy used in an appliance, the more eco-friendly and safe it is. Instead of waiting around for an appliance to die before replacing it, go ahead and switch them out with more energy efficient ones. When you are done with your old appliances, give us at Okon Recycling a call! We’ll recycle them for ya! 

Go Paperless

Something many offices are implementing is going paperless! In our world today, everything is so easily accessible digitally. There is no need to keep the paper copy. There are plenty of ways to securely share and store files digitally. When you have a meeting you won’t need to print out notes or presentations. Everyone can access it via their own personal device; just email it before the meeting starts! 

However, if you absolutely need hard copies, use eco-friendly paper and start printing double-sided to save paper. When you are done with the hard copies, we’ll take care of them at our recycling center! 

Minimize Energy Use

We are so reliant on technology in our world today. Every device, electronic, and appliance consumer power. Power consumes energy, even when the device is not in use. When you, or your employees, are not using your computer, put them to sleep or completely turn them off at the end of the day. Other ways to reduce power usage include unplugging chargers and unused devices, reducing the number of windows, tabs, or applications you have open, and lowering your screen brightness. 

Another way to effectively minimize energy usage in your workplace is to replace old light bulbs with compact-fluorescent (CFL) or LED bulbs. Minimizing the amount of energy and power usage is not only good for the environment, but it also saves you money due to less energy being consumed.
